Apple Wallet Cardkey

let's say you want to add your /dev/hack member door card to your iOS phone in Apple Wallet. at this point you should know it's not gonna be that easy 😜

of course, one thing apple doesn't let you do is add an arbitrary NFC card to your Apple Wallet. apple just might be one of the most annoying companies in the world. amazing products with great software, but it's all closed source and they don't let you do basic tasks.

why doesn't apple let you do this with hardware you bought and own? well screw you, that's why.

but the community provides. where there is a will, there is a way, and that way is with China T-Union transit pass cards. as kormax on GitHub states:

What makes this card powerful, lies in the way it changes how NFC behaves on your device when it's set as a default transit card:

• Your device stops randomizing the UID on each tap;
• Your device begins responding to all NFC readers as if they were express-transit enabled, just like on Android;
• Also this card does not change its serial number and UID when moving to other devices, unlike most other ones.

the jank (process):

in order to do this, we're gonna need an iPhone and a US-based Mastercard or Visa (preferably a credit card). now let's get started:

1. install the Alipay app from the App Store
2. sign up with your US-based phone number
   • honestly, you should use something like Google Voice for this
   • NOTE: for the love of all things, deny every single permissions pop up!!
3. search for 雪球交通卡 using the search box at the top of the app
4. now tap on Add traffic card from the results
5. in the list, select Jinhua Citizen Card / 金华市民卡 (it's gold in color)
6. from here, just follow the sign-up process - this will include accepting terms and topping up the balance
   • if you have something like Privacy virtual cards, use that instead of your personal card
   • NOTE: you should expect around $2 USD in charges when choosing the smallest refill amount
7. at some point there will be the option to add the card to Apple Wallet, be sure do that (ovs)
8. !! DELETE THE DAMN ALIPAY SPYWARE OFF YOUR PHONE !!
9. tap your phone on the card reader the next time you're at the space
10. go to Cardkey in the "recently tapped" section to find your UID
    • add the UID and sync the database. it should work now 🤞
11. profit 🎉
