Mobility

The main space is a second floor walk-up with 29 steps leading up from University Ave. There is a back entrance with 9 steps leading up from the alley. The first step for each entrance, outside of the space, is taller than the rest. There is no elevator leading to the space, unfortunately.

The back door remains locked unless it is being used to bring in bicycles or equipment, so if you need access via the back door please contact us via email to arrange in advance for first-time visitors, or if you've been added to our Matrix space you can ask for the back door to be opened via the general channel, as long as someone is in the space. It's worth confirming in advance that someone will be around.

Both bathrooms have a single step up from the hallway. There are no grab rails. The "haunted" bathroom has a toilet not surrounded by a stall, but the toilet will make weird noises at you occasionally. The second bathroom has a stall that would be uncomfortably small for a mobility aid and an adult.

Sensory stuff

Sound

Several regular members have different sensory sensitivities, notably to sound and light, so we try to be accommodating but open hack nights tend to get pretty loud. Always feel free to ask people to be quieter.

The server room emits unpleasantly high-pitched fan noise.

In both of the above cases, the kitchen/common room area is helpful to migrate to if it gets too loud.

Temperature

There are air conditioners for when it's uncomfortably hot out. You should also feel free to ask for windows to be opened to improve circulation.
