We are on the second floor of the Gelb Building in U-District, Seattle. The full postal address is 4534½ University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105-4511 (Google Maps, Apple Maps, GeoHack). (You can drop the ½ if your map software does not tolerate the address well. That will lead you to our next-door neighbor, the City of Seattle University Customer Service Center.)

Our door is usually unlocked during calendared public events. Press the "#" key for doorbell if you can't get in. See the Accessibility page for information on stairs and other accessibility considerations.

This is what our door looks like. It is next to the University Customer Service Center.

By Transit

You should probably take the light rail to get here. The U-District 1 Line station is a a block away.

Buses that pass by the U-District all have good access to the space. Some commonly used bus lines are 31/32, 45/75, 49, 67, 70, 255, 271, 372, and ST 542.

By Bike

Do not lock any bike you care about outside the space, especially at night. In the U-District, bikes and their unlocked peripherals can get stolen in very short amounts of time.

Feel free to wheel your bike into the foyer during non-trafficked hours, the front door area can support one bike and there's plenty of room to keep a bike up the stairs.

If you don't want to carry your bike up the stairs, U-District station has secure BikeLink lockers that you can activate with a BikeLink card (recommended) or with their app (not all locations available).

By Car

Driving to a park & ride and then taking a train over is still your best bet. The Green Lake Park & Ride at Roosevelt a station away from us, although stations north of Northgate will probably have the best parking.

If you insist on driving to the space, there is a chance you will get street parking right out front. Alternatively, there are a number of parking lots around the U District. The parking lot directly behind us (4551 15th Ave NE gmaps osm) has had good availability in the past.

Parking

"It's findable but good luck."

"It's kinda bad."

If you really want to park in the neighborhood, download the PayByPhone app or use the website. Use the Seattle Parking Map to get a sense of where the parking spots are.

Most parking spots are metered M-Sat 8 a.m.–8 p.m., afterwards free. Maximum time 3 hours (before 8pm).

Make sure to not park in the police spot. There's also construction happening a lot of the time blocking off space directly in front of the hackerspace.

Free street parking is usually about 4–5 blocks west or east. There's also a Jack-in-the-Box about 2 blocks north with a parking lot that usually has a spot or two. Alternatively, there's a Safeway at 4732 Brooklyn Ave NE that you could park in.
