Sleeping

From /dev/hack
These are active space policies.

This page documents accepted practices of the hackerspace. You should follow them and tell others about them. If you would like to make substantial policy changes, please propose them under a separate section marked with {{Policy proposed}}.

In general, avoid sleeping in the space. Taking a nap on occasion after a hard night of hacking is maybe okay. Using the space as a living space is definitely not okay—both our lease with the Gelb Building and our zoning prohibit this kind of usage. Also creates bad vibes.

Napping/Waking Up Policy

You should never live in the space or intentionally use it to sleep in lieu of your own home.

Otherwise, if you have fallen asleep:

  • Anyone else has the right to wake you up (intentionally or with conversation/music/noise).
  • Anyone may ask that you continue hacking instead—or if you are not being a good steward of the space—ask you to leave.
  • And if you refuse to wake up or try to go back to sleep, this is not excellent behavior and you can expect people to bring it up via our Friction Policy or during the next membership meeting.

Help! I'm currently or soon-to-be unhoused

Please feel free to ask for help from your friends & folks at the space, at the very least you can be directed towards resources to help you out but we would like to help, where we can.
