Trash

From /dev/hack

Trash days are Mondays, unless if they didn't get to it (because of holidays, inclement weather, etc.), in which case it becomes Friday anecdotally.

This is what our trash looks like. It's not much, but it's ours.

Within the space, we have trash cans located in the Hub, the Sun Room, and the kitchen. The ones in the Hub tends to require judicious emptying since they fill up faster.

The trash bins (labeled 4534 1/2) have a way of shifting in the alley and often show up far away from the back of our building. If they disappear, see if they are behind other buildings.

Billing

As of 2025, we pay ~$140 for Recology King County for a tiny ass trash bin (32gal) and recycling (32gal).

Please try to place the trash/recycling in the bins and do not just leave them in the alley! Realistically trash often runs us about $100-$120 month because of trash placed outside of bins (not always our fault; sometimes people just litter in the alleys), which trigger a special collection fee. This applies too to recycling, which is different for businesses (this is unlike setting out residential recycling in Seattle, which is free).
