Becoming a Member at /dev/hack
/dev/hack is actively seeking members who support the existence of a hackerspace in our region (full blurb here)!
Please get to know us before applying for membership. All our activities are free and open to the public!
Seeking Membership

If you, a non-member, would like to become a member at /dev/hack, put together an application indicating that you are seeking membership and attach it to the hallway pinboard just outside of the kitchen.
At the very minimum, your application should include:
- your name,
- your pronouns,
- your username,
- a bit about yourself,
- and your reason for seeking membership.
At least TWO members need to vouch for you by signing the application. Remember to leave some room for signatures!
After your application has been vouched for and ONE MONTH has passed since it was attached to the pinboard, your membership will come up for vote at the next member meeting.

If your application is denied, don’t worry, you are not permanently banned from membership. You may apply for membership again at anytime.
Vouching for Applicants
If you, an existing member, would like to vouch for an applicant, sign their application on the hallway pinboard. Feel free to vouch for an applicant who already has enough signatures – every additional vouch helps the body of members decide on the application.
If for any reason you would like to withdraw your vouch, please let the body of members know.
Approving New Members
At each member meeting, announce all applicants on the board. Add new applications to the agenda for the following member meeting.
For each application on the agenda of the current meeting, discuss the application and ask for vetos. If nobody raises a veto, membership is approved. If there is a veto, put the application to vote. Membership is then approved if a majority of those present approves.
I got approved, now what?
If you, a brand-new-member, have just had your application approved, you should be onboarded as soon as possible. Find a member who is familiar with the space and ask for help onboarding. You’ll need to:
- setup an IDP account,
- pay your membership dues ($50/month),
- and learn how to open and close the space.
